This modality can be further broken down into “Pre-Event”, “Post-Event”, and “Maintenance” Massage: 

“Pre-event” massage, performed immediately before an event, is stimulating and fast-paced, often including rocking, shaking, and pumping of major muscles that will be used during your performance.

“Post-event” massage, performed directly after an athletic feat, employs slower movements, light stretching, and firm pressure to reduce soreness, prevent cramping, relax the body, and mind.

A “Maintenance” massage, performed a healthy time around an event, may be any combination of modalities that work to address your goals and needs.
